Death Ball - The Star Wars Rubik's Cube Labyrinth made in Blender.
Cube, labyrinth, and Star Wars all together! 4 magnets for better performance. Use wire to insert the ships into their path, and a screw for the center of the ship.
When printing, orient the labyrinth upwards and use supports.
The main purpose for the mini X-Wing (which is in the little box at the base) to be able to find a path from the starting square (green) to the finish (red); the poles of the ball. At the South Pole, at the finish, there is a hidden compartment connected by magnets that the ship can slide and open once it reaches there. It will need to cross the central zone, made up of 8 pieces that can slide and rotate thanks to the turning motion provided by the two central parts that cut through the ball.
To achieve this, you not only need to solve the labyrinth and the cube, but the ball could "pop" at any moment, like a hot potato. The ball has a central screw that can be unscrewed by friction and dismantle the ball (I recommend having a star screwdriver handy, lol). Also, the central pieces can slide out if not moved carefully.
There are three main game modes (although you can invent your own):
1.- Chase Mode:
The X-Wing starts with a two-move advantage and is pursued by the Tie Fighter. If the Tie encloses or catches the X-Wing, you lose (you can do it the other way around if you prefer the Dark Side, lol).
2.- Crossfire Mode:
The X-Wing starts in the green area and the Tie in the red area. Both must reach the opposite poles without crashing into each other.
3.- Solo Mode:
The X-Wing (or the Tie Fighter) must find a path to move through the labyrinth from the start to the finish.
Rules:
A "move" is considered the movement from one corner to another, intersection to intersection, corner to an intersection, and vice versa. Ships must stop at one of these places each turn, not halfway through a straight path with no intersections.
Turns consist of a single move, meaning one ship moves from one resting point to another, and then the other ship makes its move. The second ship's goal is to catch the first one.
You must start rotating the cube once the ships approach an entrance to the central area or to find an entrance to the central area.
While sliding or rotating the cube pieces, the ships do not move.
You can escape from the fighter in the central area by placing the X-Wing and the Tie Fighter on different pieces and then rotating the pieces if you have enough of an advantage.
Before a ship moves from one piece to another, the pieces must be aligned with the central pieces and with each other. They cannot be "half-turned." Once aligned, the labyrinth path must match so the ship can move through it.
Ships cannot pass through "half-paths"; there must be enough space and proper alignment between the two pieces forming the path.
